The Willoughby Arms is situated in the attractive, rural village of Willoughby, which is ideally positioned close to the seaside resorts of the East Coast making it a perfect stop off to enjoy what this area has to offer.
The village is the birthplace of John Smith the famous explorer who was baptised on the 6th January 1580 at Willoughby, and where his parents rented a farm from Lord Willoughby. He was considered to have played an important part in the establishment of the first permanent English settlement in North America. He was a leader of the Virginia Colony (based at Jamestown) between September 1608 and August 1609, and led an exploration along the rivers of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay. He was the first English explorer to map the Chesapeake Bay area and New England. In fact many Americans visit the village throughout the year to pay homage.
The Willoughby Arms is well known for its traditional food and well kept cask beer range and with an attractive beer garden to the rear a well designed smoking shelter and a separate games room with darts board and pool table it offers a warm welcome to all giving customers the chance to drink next to our open fire, in the main bar, or eat in our attractive and cosy dining area, which is also perfect for private parties and functions.
So why not come and explore what The Willoughby Arms has to offer and experience for yourself our warm and welcoming atmosphere…We look forward to seeing you here!
